Beneath the SurfacE…
Movement wasn’t always where I found my sense of self - it took me a while to get there and I am still learning more with every moment…
I grew up in Louisville, KY; a city steeped in performing arts. I was instantly enraptured by the magic of the theatre. it shaped how I see performance, storytelling, and what it means to hold a room's attention long before I ever set foot on a dance floor. But it wasn't until my twenties that I found my real passion: dance.
Once I found it, I gave myself to it fully.
That path led me to explore modern dance, pole dancing, aerial/Circus arts and more. In 2017 I earned BFA in Dance Production — a degree that let me study the technical and creative sides of performance in equal measure: choreography, staging, production, and the discipline of bringing a piece of art from concept to stage.
Somewhere along the way — through years of teaching, performing, and watching others move/dance for the very first time — I came to understand something that's shaped everything since… movement, creativity, & sensuality aren't reserved for people who look a certain way or move a certain way. They live within everybody, waiting to be uncovered in whatever form fits the person carrying them. For me, that's shown up as a way of reconnecting to parts of myself I never new.
From there, creative & sensual movement became my life's work. I spent years teaching and performing with Equinox Entertainment, an aerial and circus arts company I founded in Colorado, where I trained with performers, choreographed original aerial work, and produced shows that blended these sensual dance styles with theater, aerial arts and more. Along the way I fell in love with every layer of it — the strength it takes to move fluidly alone or with an apparatus, the vulnerability of performing in front of a crowd, and the quiet, personal power that comes from learning to love what your body can do.
Now I've brought that experience to my current home here on the Olympic Peninsula, and I'm honored to build something new with this community.
